Siri Competitor Maluuba Launches Windows Phone 8 App
(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
Maluuba announced today a new version of their popular voice powered Personal Assistant App for Microsoft Windows Phone 8. Maluuba is available as a free download now from the Windows Phone Store.
Maluuba allows users to find exact results by speaking to their smartphone. Maluuba's proprietary, patent-pending language engine allows users to speak naturally without needing to learn rules or commands.
Sam Pasupalak, CEO of Maluuba, said, “The era of blue links is over, users want exact results not just relevant ones. Maluuba provides users exactly what they were looking for by intelligently understanding what you've asked. From day one, our vision at Maluuba has been to change how people use their smartphones, to make it effortless to get things done."
Maluuba for Windows Phone 8 offers a large feature set designed to help users manage their daily life and find things easily. Maluuba can help schedule appointments, place calls, check the weather, find businesses and restaurants, discover concerts and nearby events, find online shopping results, set reminders, play from a user's music library and more.
"We developed 25 feature domains in under a year, some of which are not supported by Siri or any other personal assistant," said Sam Pasupalak. "Shopping is a great example -- a user can ask a query like 'show me some prices for Halo 4' and Maluuba will provide exact listings of products with prices and details."
Maluuba, which launched as a free app for Android at TechCrunch Disrupt 2012 as a Battlefield finalist, chose to develop for Windows Phone 8 because of its growing user base and innovative developer tools. "Maluuba's app for Android has received great praise and we were eager to expand to other platforms. We chose Windows Phone 8 because of Microsoft's commitment to innovation. They've done an outstanding job with the platform and allowed us to do creative things not possible on other systems," said Pasupalak. "We built the app from ground up to leverage all of the integration into the OS that Windows Phone 8 offers.”
“Apps come to life on Windows Phone thanks to features like Live Tiles and integration with text-to-speech,” said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Phone Apps, Microsoft Corp. “Maluuba takes advantage of all of these features to enable Windows Phone customers to easily find and manage information, and perform actions.”
Maluuba for Windows Phone includes these unique features specific to the Windows Phone 8 platform:
"Results" Live Tiles: Users can add items from their results screens, such as movies, events, or shopping items, to their Start screen.
"Feature" Tiles: Users can have quick access to all feature Tiles by pinning them to the Start screen for quick access to find results nearby.
Text-to-speech: Unlike Maluuba's Android app, the Windows Phone 8 version will speak results to you as you use the application.
Other features include:
Restaurants, movies, events and businesses search
Alarms, Reminders and Meeting scheduling
Calling, texting and emailing
Directions and Weather search
Knowledge and Web Search
Outlook calendar integration
