Mobile Rhino Shares 5 Unique Uses for iPads in the Classroom

St. Louis, MO, Feb 13, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Mobile Rhino (http://www.mobile-rhino.com), the first mobile device insurance program available for schools through licensed insurance agents, has compiled a list of five unique ways iPads can enrich the classroom experience for students and educators.

The iPad has become a fast favorite for schools as the number of school districts adopting tablets for students and teachers continues to grow. Over 1.5 million iPads are currently being used by students in the U.S., connecting them to their studies both in and out of the classroom. (iPad in Schools) "By looking at the growing popularity of iPads in education, we realized that these devices are more than just textbook replacements. They are actually revolutionizing the way that students are learning and teachers are teaching," said Dwight Stuckey, creator of Mobile Rhino. Below is the list of iPad apps that Stuckey claims will "get both teachers and students thinking outside of the box." 1. Skype - Skype, a Voice over IP service, enables real-time video conferencing that allows teachers to take students on virtual field trips and speak to subject-matter experts from around the world without ever leaving the classroom. Students can also increase international and cultural awareness by using Skype to communicate with students in other countries, replacing traditional pen pals.

2. Notability - This extreme note taking app gives students and teachers the ability to handwrite notes, draw diagrams, and import .pdf, .xls, and ppt files. Teachers can also record lectures and share with students to make sure they have access to all important information. Notability even integrates with Google Drive and Dropbox if teachers use these programs to turn in assignments.

3. The Elements - Learning the Periodic Table is a common chemistry assignment that usually involves pure memorization and repetition. But The Elements app takes a once boring assignment and makes it interesting again, explaining to students what the elements are, how they're used and the history behind them.

4. Virtuoso - The iPad is applicable in more than just the core subjects. Musical education teachers can enrich their lesson plans with Virtuoso, which brings a complete keyboard to students without ever having to buy a piano.

5. Math Ref - This app brings over 1,400 formulas, figures and math examples to students' fingertips. Its large list of tools, including unit converters, quadratic solvers, and integral tables, make Math Ref perfect for nearly every math-based class, including chemistry, physics, economics, statistics, and calculus.

"Because iPads are now so heavily involved in students' study habits -- and grades -- it's important for schools and families to protect their iPads against loss, theft, damage and malfunctions," said Stuckey. "Mobile Rhino and our Licensed Insurance Agents work directly with schools and administrators to offer an education discount on our 6-Point Protection Plan for schools' devices. We want to make sure no student is left without his/her favorite study tool."
