Sheridan Healthcare, Inc. Delivers Key Advances With Live 24/7/365 Teleradiology Service
SUNRISE, Fla. --(Business Wire)--
Sheridan Healthcare, Inc., a national hospital-based, multispecialty
physician services company, today announced its proprietary U.S.-based
live 24/7/365 teleradiology service that delivers guaranteed turnaround
of final reads in 20 minutes and best-in-class interpretations. The
service also has the unique feature of being able to gather all relevant
prior exams, applying the same standard of care found throughout
hospitals but heretofore unavailable on other teleradiology platforms
across the country.
"Advances in medical technology along with the increasing number of
diagnostic studies being performed across the nation will soon outpace
the number of radiologists entering the field," said Sheridan Healthcare
CEO John Carlyle. "The Sheridan Radiology Services around-the-clock
teleradiology offers a quality answer to promoting better clinical
results, ensuring prompt readings and optimizing workflow."
The Sheridan teleradiolgy service provides more than 85 percent of its
final reads in less than 15 minutes. Prompt after-hours or remote reads
can shorten the stay of the patient in the ER and the overall hospital
length of stay by providing physicians with information that can result
in immediate action. Sheridan provides this coverage of emergent studies
with multiple radiologists at all hours of the day and night by
utilizing on-site radiologists during the day and its own internal
teleradiologists overnight. All of the radiologists are board certified
and fellowship trained in the U.S., allowing Sheridan to integrate
subspecialty expertise across the entire practice and maintain the
highest levels of quality control.
Quality is maintained through a stringent internal system that combines
contemporaneous double reads, peer review and Ongoing Professional
Practice Evaluation. Sheridan's discrepancy rates of 0.10 percent for
preliminary reads and 0.03 percent for final interpretations are best in
class, maximizing quality patient care and minimizing malpractice risk
to hospitals.
To assist in interpretation of the current study, the IT infrastructure
utilizes a common patient identifier to gather all relevant prior exams
across geographic and market boundaries for the Sheridan radiologist.
All studies can be read on the system including cutting-edge coronary
CTA, brain perfusion CT/CTA and MRA. When fully integrated with a
facility's systems, which requires an implementation period of
approximately 90 days, the remote reading service can review orders,
retrieve prior exams and dictate a final report to be sent back to the
facility's PAC/RIS system while being fully HIPPA compliant.
Sheridan Radiology Services, Inc. was established in 2006 and employs
more than 100 radiologists to provide more than two million radiology
interpretations annually.
