Jan 11, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) --
Align Technology, Inc., which designs, manufactures and markets a system of clear aligner therapy, intra-oral scanners and computer-aided digital services, has introduced the new iTero imaging system which is available as single hardware platform and software options for restorative or orthodontic procedures.
"I'm very pleased to announce our new iTero imaging system for dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists," said Timothy A. Mack, Align Technology vice president and general manager of iTero. "The new iTero has been engineered with advanced optics and enhanced algorithms that substantially increase the speed of capture to reduce the overall scanning time. Additionally, the new scanning wand and fiber-optic cord are lighter and ergonomically designed to improve the user and patient experience."
Building upon iTero's digital scanning capabilities, the newly redesigned iTero scanner maintains its innovative powderless technology and features a modern design with enhanced wand optics for a smaller, more ergonomic fit, easy-to-use keyboard design and a larger working surface. Additionally, full color model rendering is available that enables clinicians to show patients a life-like final model of their scanned dentition.
According to the company, the new iTero delivers reduced capture time through improved optics and enhanced algorithms while maintaining a high standard of digital imaging accuracy, the efficiency of open source imaging and streamlined workflow. iTero's digitized workflow affords customers complete flexibility. Whether it's a crown or bridge restoration, full or partial orthodontics (including Invisalign), an inlay/onlay, veneers or a validated implant solution, doctors can select the option that best fits the needs of each individual case.
iTero is an ideal chair-side platform for enhanced patient communications and education during Invisalign consultations. With the Invisalign Outcome Simulator, Align's first chair-side application powered by iTero announced today, doctors can use the interactive application to increase treatment acceptance by enabling patients to visualize the potential benefits of Invisalign treatment in the doctor's office. The improved digital capture speed of the new iTero makes the Invisalign Outcome Simulator even more convenient for the busy practice.
Align will begin marketing and selling the new iTero in North America beginning February 2013 and soon thereafter in select international markets.
