Jan 10, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Align Technology, Inc. announced the new iTero imaging system available as a single hardware platform with software options for restorative or orthodontic procedures.
"I'm very pleased to announce our new iTero imaging system for dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists," said Timothy A. Mack, Align Technology vice president and general manager of iTero. "The new iTero has been engineered with advanced optics and enhanced algorithms that substantially increase the speed of capture to reduce the overall scanning time. Additionally, the new scanning wand and fiber-optic cord are lighter and ergonomically designed to improve the user and patient experience."
According to a release, building upon iTero's digital scanning capabilities, the newly redesigned iTero scanner maintains its powderless technology and features a modern design with enhanced wand optics for a smaller, more ergonomic fit, easy-to-use keyboard design and a larger working surface. Additionally, full color model rendering is available that enables clinicians to show patients a life-like final model of their scanned dentition. The new iTero delivers substantially reduced capture time through improved optics and enhanced algorithms while maintaining a high standard of digital imaging accuracy, the efficiency of open source imaging and streamlined workflow. iTero's digitized workflow affords customers complete flexibility.
iTero is an ideal chair-side platform for enhanced patient communications and education during Invisalign consultations. With the Invisalign Outcome Simulator, Align's first chair-side application powered by iTero announced, doctors can use the interactive application to increase treatment acceptance by enabling patients to visualize the potential benefits of Invisalign treatment in the doctor's office. The improved digital capture speed of the new iTero makes the Invisalign Outcome Simulator even more convenient for the busy practice.
Align will begin marketing and selling the new iTero in North America beginning February 2013 and soon thereafter in select international markets.
Align Technology designs, manufactures and markets Invisalign, a proprietary method for treating malocclusion, or the misalignment of teeth.
Cadent Holdings, Inc. is a subsidiary of Align Technology and is a provider of 3D digital scanning solutions for orthodontics and dentistry.
