IceWarp Uncovers Flaws in Nexus 10 (Android 4.2.1) Operating System, Confirms Full Compatibility with the Google Device
(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Springfield, Virginia (PRWEB) December 17, 2012
IceWarp has announced today that it has uncovered several flaws in Nexus 10 (Android 4.2.1) Operating System – primarily in email search functions, email functionality and support for calendars – and confirmed full compatibility with the Google device. The global messaging and collaborations solutions provider detected the bugs while testing its interoperability with this new popular gadget.
“Nexus 10 is a terrific product that will claim its rightful share of the tablet market, and IceWarp users will make the most of it using our Tablet Interface,” said Jakub Klos, Chief of Development and Founding Member of IceWarp. “Exhaustive testing by our developers showed that we are fully compatible with the Google tablet. However, we discovered some glitches that can affect user experience. We have promptly informed Google of them and are confident that these issues would be addressed as soon as possible. Also, we would like to use this opportunity to help our colleagues in the messaging community save time and resources by letting them know that the detected flows have nothing to do with their server environment.”
IceWarp technology team has uncovered the following Nexus 10 operating system’s defects:
• Calendar glitches: the email client ignores Event Exceptions - Event with special definition causes EAS to stop syncing calendar for good.
• Email glitches:
• Mail Delete problems. Some deleted mails on the device are never deleted on the server (the operation is probably cancelled before communicating with the server). Deleted messages take time to disappear.
• Email application displays sender instead of recipient in Sent folder.
• Email application does not allow to save .zip attachments.
• Search functionality issues: Search is not working in folders other than Inbox. When using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol to search for emails, the application leads users to believe that they are searching the folder currently selected. In reality, the search is always performed in the Inbox on the server.
“We specifically tested Nexus’ EAS functionality, because it’s an important component of the IceWarp solution,” said Ladislav Goc, Icewarp President. “Our company has been licensing key Microsoft patents and protocols since 2009 and successfully developing our own products based on them. Naturally, we have the in-depth knowledge of .MS Exchange ActiveSync - that allowed us to notice the flaws missed by other developers.”
A rare exception in the messaging space, IceWarp’s architecture is based on universal standards, doesn’t depend on any client and supports all mobile devices currently on the market.
