Major Brands Reports Significant Increase in Productivity with HighJump Software Warehouse Management System
MINNEAPOLIS --(Business Wire)--
HighJump Software, a global provider of supply
chain management software, announced today that Major Brands,
Missouri's largest beer, wine and spirits distributor, has realized
significant increases in efficiency and productivity since it
implemented the HighJump warehouse
management system in its St. Louis warehouse.
The HighJump warehouse management system (WMS) provided Major Brands
with a foundation of best practices for receiving,
put-away/flow-through, inventory management, replenishment and more.
These components were adapted to Major Brands' specific needs, helping
it achieve a significant increase in how efficiently employees handled beverage
cases over the last six years. The number of cases handled per employee
per hour has increased more than 10 percent and, although volumes have
incrased, finish times have remained constant or even below the prior
year in some cases. Picking accuracy for cases and bottles is more than
99.9 percent.
"We could not move the volume that we do now without the HighJump WMS,"
explained Randy Simpson, Director of Operations, Major Brands. "It
tracks all of our key data, such as which items we have in stock, where
they are and their expiration dates. It has allowed our company to grow
and to improve our service to customers."
Additionally, the configurability of the WMS helps Major Brands more
efficiently track inventory from one location to another. For example,
employees are instructed whether to store product in a secondary bulk
location or in the forward pick location if the inventory there is below
minimum stock levels.
Expanding functionalities, continued improvements Since
realizing significant success with the HighJump WMS, Major Brands
upgraded to the latest version of the HighJump WMS to take advantage of
new functionalities. It implemented much of the upgrade itself.
"That was a big advantage for us," explained Bill Schwein, Software
Developer, Major Brands. "HighJump was very flexible in allowing us to
implement a big portion of the new WMS and worked closely with us to
make sure everything went smoothly. We were able to test all features of
the new WMS prior to installation which gave us assurance that no
customer service disruptions would take place during the actual
implementation and yet still stay within our designated timeline."
With the upgraded WMS, Major Brands has access to the HighJump App
Station, which allows users to browse and add functionalities much like
a smart phone user would add apps to a device. This means being able to
take advantage of new features & functionality as soon as it is
available and maximum WMS adaptability without the need for any custom
coding or workflow interruption. With the HighJump App Station, the
HighJump WMS can grow alongside Major Brands, configuring to new
challenges and operations as needed.
