Adapx Showcases New Speech and Sketch Tools to Speed-Up Mission Planning and Simulations at I/ITSEC
ORLANDO, FL, Dec 03, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Adapx, the leader in natural user interfaces for data capture, today
announced that its speech and sketch tools for mission planning and
simulations will be showcased at the I/ITSEC Conference in Orlando.
As warfighters work with increasingly sophisticated tools for sharing
and analyzing mission plans, they also face more complex systems and
interfaces that can create training burdens, delays, and
distractions. The Adapx speech and sketch interfaces enable
commanders to quickly create detailed courses of action by simply
speaking and sketching plans on touchscreens using standard military
jargon and symbols.
Speech and sketch interfaces have been integrated into a range of
existing systems, including DARPA's Sketch-Thru-Plan, the Command
Post of the Future (CPOF), Tactical Intelligence Ground Reporting
(TIGR) system, and other systems. At I/ITSEC, for example, attendees
will be able to see speech and sketch data captured in real time into
ArcGIS and Google Earth, among other systems. Soldiers can point to a
location on a touchscreen map and simply speak the name of a unit or
an ISR observation. The Adapx software automatically creates an
object in the native ISR, planning or GIS database with the proper
geospatial attributes. Sketched symbols become geo-registered MIL-STD
2525 symbols.
"With our speech and sketch interfaces the standard doctrine becomes
the interface through speech and sketch across multiple systems --
minimizing training needs, cognitive load, and distractions," said
Ken Schneider, CEO, Adapx. "While the underlying technology is
sophisticated and complex, warfighters don't get bogged down in
having to learn arcane commands and systems."

Attendees can also learn about the Defense Systems Magazine special
commentary on Army Modernization written by Adapx Board Member,
General Peter Chiarelli. "Today's modernization investments will have
a huge impact on preparing for future wars, thereby reducing what has
been the historical certainty of being unprepared for the next big
threat to our national security," says General Chiarelli. Read more

About Adapx:
Capturx Software from Adapx speeds data capture and
collaboration by turning natural speech, sketch, and handwriting into
actionable data in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, CRM, ERP, GIS, C2,
C4ISR systems and many other backend systems. By simply speaking and
writing, teams get instant access to structured data collected on
paper, touchscreen devices, mobile devices and wall displays. A range
of enterprises and agencies speed workflows and reduce risk by using
Capturx to bypass data transcription from paper and cumbersome
keyboard- and menu-driven interfaces. Adapx has strategic
relationships with Microsoft, ESRI and In-Q-Tel, and works with
standard digital pen technology from Anoto. Learn More:
