By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
xVelocity is Microsoft’s (News - Alert) family of in-memory and memory-optimized data management technologies in SQL Server 2012. The first two members of this family are the two members of the xVelocity in-memory analytics engine and the xVelocity memory-optimized columnstore index feature.
With PowerPivot for Excel 2010 and PowerPivot for SharePoint 2010, the xVelocity in-memory analytics engine is the next generation of the VertiPaq engine that was introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2.
Recently, Strategy Companion Corp announced that its Analyzer Business Intelligence solution now supports SQL Server 2012 Tabular xVelocity in-memory data sources.
While Analyzer SaaS (News - Alert) allows cloud-based information providers host multi-tenant, subscription-based Business Intelligence applications for their users, Analyzer Enterprise is created for internal corporate Business Intelligence projects.
Analyzer SaaS deployments are typically industry-specific and offer advanced Business Intelligence solutions used every day by users.
