By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor
By passing the qualification tests set for the Microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol TV (IPTV (News - Alert)) platform, the Imagine ICE Video Platform IPTV transcoder is now certified to be interoperable and complaint with Microsoft (News - Alert) Mediaroom headends and systems.
The qualification testing of ICE IPTV platform was conducted by Tech Mahindra Corp. as part of the Microsoft Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab (IQ Lab) program. Microsoft asserted that as its Mediaroom software platform continues to gain momentum around the world, encoding partners will be able to capitalize on this growth by enabling their solutions to seamlessly integrate with the platform to deliver fast and smooth service provider deployments.
According to Imagine, the Imagine ICE Video Platform gives content providers and system operators a sustainable competitive advantage by providing the most efficient network resource optimization and the highest end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) – all while delivering an unparalleled viewing experience over any content delivery network to any trusted device.
At the core of the Imagine technology is Interchangeable Compressed Elements (ICE) – built as per video program or asset by processing and analyzing video elements at their most granular level and across multiple bit rates. The IPTV transcoder solution is available to users in a dense 1RU package or as a NEBS compliant Blade System and helps service providers deploy more channels with higher picture quality and also seamlessly add support for multiple devices such as tablets, PCs and smartphones.
Officials with Imagine claimed that their IPTV partners and customers have expressed a pent-up demand for a new high quality Mediaroom transcoding option and they are excited to now be in a position to meet that demand.
They have particularly enjoyed the working relationship with Tech Mahindra, who treated their qualification project with dedication and professionalism, enabling them to rapidly complete the testing and provide the highest quality and highest reliability IPTV transcoding solution to Microsoft Mediaroom headends and systems.
In other news, Prism TV, the alternative to cable and satellite, just got better with new features and functionality through Microsoft Mediaroom TV technology. Microsoft Mediaroom already enables Prism customers to have best-in class-features such as whole home DVR and an interactive dashboard.
